Edouard will ride the World Cup Final in Basel!

Just before the final qualifying Grand Prix in Gothenburg on Sunday, Edouard noted, “I am so close, yet so far from my qualification.”

Securing those crucial points proved challenging in Amsterdam and Leipzig, but a strong finish in the Bordeaux kept him in contention, even if it wasn’t enough to clinch a definitive spot.

Under intense pressure during the last qualifier weekend, Edouard demonstrated his ability to rise to the occasion. Achieving an 8th-place finish at the Grand Prix in Sweden with his horse Gamin secured the pilot the 17th overall ranking, earning him a spot among the top 18 European riders who will compete in the Final from April 2nd to 6th in Basel.

At 25 years old, it will already be his second appearance at the World Cup Final, following his debut in Omaha, USA, in 2023.

Edouard Schmitz has been working with his horses at his own stables in Anières for almost a year now. The 26-year-old says it is a lot of responsibility and a lot of work, but it also gives him the freedom to realise his own sporting vision.
