The prestigious World Cup jumping competition took place Sunday afternoon. Whoever was going to win this competition would be the big winner in Basel. A total of seven pairs, including two Swiss, had made it into the jump-off of the Longines FEI World Cup competition at the CHI Classics Basel on Sunday in front of a sold-out crowd: among them Edouard Schmitz with the 11-year-old Belgian gelding Gamin Van't Naastveldhof.
All six teams in front of Edouard Schmitz remained faultless in the jump-off. Leading the pack was the world number 1 Henrik von Eckermann with his top horse. The Geneva rider took full risk as the last rider with his gelding Gamin van't Naastveldhof and attacked the winning time in impressive style. At the jump-in to the two-horse combination Edouard Schmitz had to accept a mistake. 32.04 seconds stood to be the fastest time of the jump-off. In the end, the 7th place was achieved for the promising pair.
A big thank you goes to the OC around Andy Kistler and the countless helpers who put together a tremendous equestrian event.
