At the age of 23, Edouard Schmitz was the youngest in the youngest - Irish-Swiss - Miami Celtics team that competed for the 1.5 million euro victory prize in the Super Cup Final of the Global Champions League of show jumpers in Prague. Six teams competed in Prague, two different courses over 160 centimeters had to be completed.
The young Miami Celtics team had only four faults from round one, but then Ireland's Michael Duffy recorded two faults and suddenly the young team had the same twelve penalties as the veterans.
In the end, there were 12 mistakes by Edouard's team against 12 mistakes committed by the competitors, while the team time was 190.98 seconds against 196.69 seconds. Together with the two Irishmen, 27-year-old Bertram Allen and 26-year-old Michael G Duffy, Edouard Schmitz relegated the veterans from Valkenswaard United and Shanghai Swans and thus show jumping legends such as John Whitaker or Martin Fuchs to the other places on the podium.
