Edouard Schmitz on Quno already had a drop at the first jump and then committed two more faults early on in the course. He decided to stop the round in order not to take any unnecessary risks. Only six of the 44 pairs had completed the normal course without any faults. Of the Swiss, Martin Fuchs shone with a second place on Sunday.
On Friday, the Swiss show jumpers with Edouard Schmitz again won the Nations Cup at the CSIO St. Gallen and successfully defended their title from last year. In the jump-off they prevailed against Brazil. The world number 3, Martin Fuchs, remained faultless in a close decision, while the very last pole fell for the Brazilian Yuri Mansur. Edouard Schmitz with "Gamin Van't Naastveldhof" recorded one fault in each of the two rounds of the Nations' Cup and had to accept four penalties each.
